Why is nuclear energy bad for the world?

Nuclear energy produces long-lived radioactive waste. There is also a possibility of accidents that would release radioactive material into the environment. Exposure to the Radioactive Material Can Be Deadly, Causing Health Problems and Cancer: Through the history of nuclear disasters we have had a living lab to see the numbers of deaths caused by nuclear power plants along with infertility, health problems, and deadly cancers among people in communities even far away from the original site.

  1. So does coal power plant, it releases 5.2 tons of uranium annually. As described in my post entitled Radiation from Power Plant http://gogonuclear.blogspot.com/2011/11/radiation-from-power-plant.html
If we are talking about accidents, refer to Nuclear Power Safety Record on http://gogonuclear.blogspot.com/2011/11/nuclear-power-safety-record.html
About exposure to radioactive material can be deadly, read on Radiation 101 from http://gogonuclear.blogspot.com/2011/11/radiation-101.html

Car accidents happen everyday in our life, deadly accidents, but we never stop using cars. Why? Because its benefits overcomes its risks. So does nuclear power plant.

    Regards.

    1. @mikhael alkaff: i think your comment sucks and clearly explains the worldly issue at hand, way too many people thinking like you and not considering the BIG PICTURE at all. car accidents and nuclear accidents are not even in the same category. when thinking of nuclear power, remember that it produces an extremely high amount of waste which scientists and "experts" have no idea what to do with. their solutions suck. most of it has been dumped into our oceans and has started washing up with the tops busted open on shores (namingly in africa) and radiating people, killing people, and forcing people to evacuate their homes. also, half life time on some of the material is over 10,000 years and even then, eventually it turns into lead which is STILL bad in high amounts, still bad of our sea life, it's just bad. the only think that nuclear power benefits is a very small number of people because they are getting paid a lot of money and making a lot of money off of it. i think in it's beginning stages it was a great discovery but the fact that we still are depending on it 50+years later and countries and leaders are still putting a lot of money into getting new plants built and started (vietnam, china, russia) makes me crazy. it's absolutely no big secret that nuclear waste is a giant and HUGE issue in our world and that radiation, uranium mining, the uranium tailings ARE ALL BAD and has ruined peoples health. and also, remember the disaster in japan??? and if you want to argue about coal power plants, then we agree on that, yes, that is bad for the environment too and its a crappy means of making the worlds power but making an argument by stating that nuclear power "it's benefits overcomes its risks" tells me that you have absolutely 0 awareness of how destructive nuclear waste and nuclear accidents can be and HAVE BEEN IN THE LONG TERM. the accident in russia that happened in 1986 is still affecting and killing people. the solution should be in finding SAFER and smarter ways to make power and they are possible, it's just that this world is led by corrupt leaders who's focus is money and they have 0 regard for human life. it is time we start thinking differently about these issues rather than how you are thinking of them. people should be believing that we can think up of better solutions than this. this is not good enough and we all deserve better, the planet earth certainly deserves better.
